Characteristics of PE packaging film
PE (polyethylene) film is colorless, tasteless, slightly milky white in appearance, non-polar in surface, difficult to print and bond, and can only be suitable for printing and bonding after surface treatment and improvement.
The water permeability of PE film is less than 0.01%, with good water resistance, but high air permeability. It is suitable for moisture-proof packaging and not suitable for vacuum packaging. It has a waxy feel and is flammable. When burning, it has low smoke. There are molten drops. The flame is slightly yellow and blue. It smells of paraffin.
PE film has low tensile strength, poor creep resistance and good impact resistance.
PE is a chemically inert polymer with good chemical stability and can resist the corrosion of acid, alkali and salt solvents at room temperature.
It is not soluble in general solvents at temperatures below 60 ℃, but it will swell or crack when exposed to fat and aromatic solvents for a long time. If the temperature exceeds 60 ℃, it can be dissolved in toluene, amyl acetate, ethylene trimer, turpentine, mineral oil and paraffin in a small amount. It is soluble in tetrahydronaphthalene after 100 ℃. PE film will also swell, penetrate and discolor after contacting with vegetable oil, and its internal naphthalene will precipitate and dissolve in vegetable oil after long-term contact.
In this way, the shelf life of food containing vegetable oil will be greatly shortened, which is also harmful to human health. Therefore, PE film is not suitable for packaging fried food and food containing vegetable oil.
